Hicks & Hart was founded by Catherine Hicks and Kate Hart who met while training to become garden designers at the prestigious Inchbald School of Design. They became great friends, graduated with distinction and decided to start their design business having enjoyed highly successful careers across the hotel, leisure and retail sectors.

Tucked into a compact Notting Hill courtyard, Hicks & Hart studio garden is a private green escape – a lush, textural space for working, entertaining and unwinding in the heart of the city.
This half-acre garden in North Norfolk features wildlife-friendly planting, inspired by the expansive views across the river and surrounding farmland – a tranquil space to relax and unwind.
Set in 110 acres of parkland, these redesigned gardens honour the elegance of a grand country house hotel, blending classical structure with playful planting as a backdrop for guest enjoyment and celebration.
This summer we’ve been all about pots and planters – from our work at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for Gladwell & Patterson to the Goring and Nobu Hotels. When The Goring Hotel asked us to dial up the fun mid-summer, we didn’t mess about. We sourced the most abundant late-flowering plants, arranging them across their many pots and urns on the lawn and terraces. Here’s Kate on delivery day, taking stock of all that summer joy.
We were asked to create a warm, private and welcoming atmosphere alongside a redesign of The Nobu’s dining terrace. Here’s Kate carefully placing each plant to ensure the perfect final display.
We can only finalise a planting plan once we’ve seen the plants in person and placed each one with care. Here’s Catherine adding the final touches to an antique wine cooler used in this award-winning stand at the 2025 RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
